A discard and termination type is a label that describes contract termination or discard reason. Operators can use discard and termination types to help understand contract trends. This article explains adding custom discard and termination types specific to your organization. For more information about assigning a termination or discard reason to a contract, see Terminating a contract and Discarding a contract.
This article is part of the Kube system setup flow. For more information, see Kube setup checklist.
NOTE: If you edit a discard and termination type name, Kube updates the name in all contracts it is assigned to. If you edit a default discard and termination type name, Kube includes the original name in parentheses after the edited name on the termination and discard types screen. For example, if you change the name of the Amenities termination and discard type to Marketable, Kube displays Marketable (Amenities).
You can archive termination and discard types, but at least one must be active. If you archive a termination and discard type that is assigned to an existing contract, the contract retains the contract type, but you cannot assign the archived contract type to any other contracts.
To add a discard and termination type
Select your Personal Profile in the top menu and select System Settings from the drop-down menu. The Operator Profile screen appears.
Select Custom Fields in the side menu and select the Contracts tab then Termination & Discard Types.
Click the Add button.
Complete the Contract Termination Type field.
Click Save.
TIP: The next step in the Kube system setup process is to set a default termination and discard type. For more information, see Setting a default termination and discard type.
