After a company purchases a public IP through a contract, and you have configured the public IP amenity, you can further configure the public IP to meet the company's usage needs. This article describes configuring a purchased public IP amenity after initial configuration. For more information, see Adding a Data/Wi-Fi amenity and Configuring data/Wi-Fi amenities.
When you configure a public IP, you can choose to forward the public IP or route it. Forwarding sends all internet traffic from one IP address to another. Routing assigns the IP address you select to a specific MAC address or makes the IP address discoverable by a device.
This article is part of the Kube data-Wi-Fi setup flow. For more information, see Kube setup checklist.
NOTES:
If your organization has not purchased Kube IT Management or higher, Kube does not show data/Wi-Fi information.
Depending on your assigned role and permissions, and the version of Kube your organization uses, some or all of these menus or services may not be available or displayed.
After you save your configuration, Kube displays whether it forwards or routes the public IP in the Function column.
You can update the company's public IP address without amending the company's contract the public IP address is included in. For more information, see Updating a company's public IP address.
Only those familiar with configuring public IPs should complete this task. We do not recommend using a public IP when a company has a load balanced service plan. Contact your IT department or Yardi technical support if you are unsure of what you need to do. For more information about service plans, see Setting a default internet service plan.
